Landing Attempts
Another thought for the motherland,
yearning for roots to hold me deep in the soil.
They follow me as I move around the world,
like sonic shadows that foil my attempts to land.
A constant calling. longing.
A persistent reminder. divider.
Where are you from?
Documents try to define.
Where are you really from?
Words fail to satisfy.
Roots reach for me wherever I go,
pulling me to a source where I can’t return.
Yet memories flow in my veins like silk on water,
wisdom of my ancestors refuse to wash away.
Like a river, I flow, meander, dip and rise
with the current of life.
Ever evolving, never still. searching.
When I meet the eternal ocean,
will I have enough to answer,
Who am I?
